  Some bibles attempt to translate the Hebrew and Greek word-for-word into English. The king James version Bible is an effort at a direct translation. The Good News Bible, also called "the good news for modern man", translates The Bible by idea. In this case there is going to be specific information that is lost in the translation.  The very 1st sentence in The Bible says, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the Earth."  Heaven and Earth are central concepts throughout The Bible. Quite often God is in heaven and makes decisions from there that have an impact on Earth. The "Good news for modern man Bible" Replaces "heaven and Earth" with the word "universe".  In this translation heaven is not mentioned, so we don't know that it exists yet.
